Thousands of anglers from across Lindy Land are gearing up for a chance to win their share of more than $200,000 in an ice fishing competition of epic proportions.

The Brainerd Jaycees 26th annual Ice Fishing Extravaganza is set for Feb. 6 on Minnesota’s Gull Lake, and if you’ve never seen it, the contest is incredible.

A record-setting field estimated at more than 13,000 anglers participated last year. A virtual sea of ice fishing humanity sprawled across the two-square-mile tournament area, which was dotted with 20,000 holes pre-drilled the day before.

Run solely by volunteers, the event raises funds for local charities including Confidence Learning Center, an outdoor recreational facility and camp for people with developmental disabilities.

Over the past quarter century, the Extravaganza has raised and donated more than $3 million to over 50 worthy organizations, which is one reason Lindy Legendary Fishing Tackle is once again proud to be a sponsor of the event.

The prizes are great, too. First place wins a Ford or GMC truck from Mills Auto Group, and the list includes other great items including an Arctic Cat 550 ATV, Ice Castle wheelhouse, Lindy shopping sprees and much more.

Along with the shopping sprees, Lindy is also kicking in $3,000 in cash for the “Lindy Big Fish Bounty.” To win, purchase a Special Edition Lindy Rattl’n Flyer Spoon at a Mills Fleet Farm store before the tournament and finish in 26th place.

If you think it’s a long shot, consider the 2015 Lindy Big Fish Bounty, which was offered to the 25th-place finisher if they had a Lindy Perch Talker in their possession. As Michele Sullivan of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, took the stage to accept 25th place for her 1.64-pound walleye, she claimed the cash by proudly displaying the lucky lure. If you’d like to be part of the big event, there’s still time. Tickets for the Extravaganza are on sale now and everyone is welcome. For more information, visit IceFishing.org.
